Washington Township Medical Foundation has a well-equipped otolaryngology department, staffed with expert ear, nose, and throat surgeons. Otolaryngology procedures are often used to treat allergies, head and neck issues, throat pain, or change a patient’s physical appearance.
The otolaryngologists at Washington Township Medical Foundation are trained in both medicine and surgery, meaning they can both diagnose problems and perform the treatment without referring the patient to someone else.
The goal of sinus surgery is to restore normal sinus drainage and function while preserving normal anatomy and mucosal tissue. We excel at many safe and effective procedures to improve nasal breathing and help you return to a normal lifestyle - including Balloon Sinuplasty and other types of endoscopic sinus surgeries.
A parotidectomy is done for tumors of the parotid gland and occasionally for recurrent infections of the gland. For benign and low-grade malignant tumors, surgery is usually curative without any need for additional therapy. We are often able to use minimally invasive surgery, which offers fast recovery time and few complications. For other malignant tumors, surgery is usually followed by radiation therapy.
People with sleep apnea stop breathing while they sleep, sometimes hundreds of times per night, and sometimes for a minute or longer. Sleep apnea affects about 18 million people of all ages in the U.S. and takes three forms: obstructive, central, and mixed.
We offer top experience in the latest medical and surgical approach to any type of complex nasal problem. Conditions we treat successfully include deviated septum, rhinitis, turbinate reduction, rhinoplasty, septoplasty, polypectomy, and more. It's a team that not only can diagnose the problem, but can also perform the treatment.
Perforations of the eardrum, or tympanic membrane, can occur as a result of infections or trauma. Small perforations often heal on their own, but large perforations may require surgical repair. The operating microscope helps to enlarge the view of the ear structures, giving a more detailed image to the ear surgeon.
Thyroid surgery is for patients with a variety of thyroid conditions, including both benign and cancerous thyroid nodules, large thyroid glands, and overactive thyroid glands. Procedures we offer include thyroidectomy, which involves the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland.

Can I say I sleep like a champ now! My hubby says he has to check to see if I’m even breathing at night when I’m asleep because I don’t snore or breathe heavy! Although tonsillectomy, glossectomy & turbinate reduction is a relatively painful procedure, the care & results were fabulous! I like laid-back doctors, it makes me feel more comfortable & although he is a kick-back doc, he’s one of the best, he knows what he’s doing, truly one of the best!
Dr. Van Tassel is AWESOME!! He performed my tonsillectomy. No complications and recovery wasn’t anything he didn’t warn me about. He’s really funny and laid-back too. If doctors make you nervous, Dr. Van Tassel will probably change your mind.
Dr. Van Tassel was awesome. My husband had a large salivary stone and Dr. V.T. removed it surgically. Dr. Van Tassel is professional, easygoing, and funny. I was very impressed with his medical knowledge and his credentials. He took my husband’s case and he got surgery within 1 week. I was extremely impressed. I would recommend this ENT highly if you have any ENT issues.
